Amazon has launched a new MiniTV streaming service for India within its Amazon shopping app on Android.
The service offers users “professionally” created and curated content across web series, comedy shows, tech news, food, beauty, fashion and more.
“In a global first for Amazon, Amazon.in, today announced the launch of miniTV. miniTV is a free, ad-supported video streaming service available within the Amazon shopping app,” Amazon said in a blog post.
What is Amazon miniTV?
It is a video streaming service that allows users to stream content free of cost, directly from the Amazon shopping app.
The list of leading studios to be featured on Amazon MiniTV include leading comedians – Ashish Chanchlani, Amit Bhadana, Round2Hell, Harsh Beniwal, Shruti Arjun Anand, Elvish Yadav, Prajakta Koli, Swagger Sharma, Aakash Gupta and Nishant Tanwar.
Some of the titles availalbe on MiniTV now are produced by TVF and Pocket Aces – two of the most popular web studios in India.
The miniTV banner is showing up on the Amazon app’s homepage, clicking on which takes you to the miniTV landing page.
MiniTV video streaming platform is different than Amazon’s Prime Video, primarily because its free of cost.
It doesn’t require a separate app to be downloaded and it is part of the Amazon app.
The company says it’s planning “new and exclusive videos” in the coming months, but didn’t provide a timetable.
Amazon’s miniTV video streaming platform is currently available for Amazon app users on Android only.
The company says that it looks to bring the service to iOS app and mobile Web over the coming months.
